Crowns and Bridges:

Porcelain, Porcelain Fused to Metal (PFM) and Gold;

Porcelain crown and veneers are available in a variety of applications and can come with or without metal underneath. Dr. Choi utilizes porcelain crowns with gold alloy framework underneath most frequently due to the long-lasting results and pleasing esthetics. Although gold metal bridges are no longer popular, single gold crowns are still made.

Full or Partial Cast Metal Removable Dentures and Flexible Dentures;

For patients that are losing their teeth, dentures are a cost-effective and cosmetically appealing solution. However, having dentures does take some getting used to, they may sometimes affect your chewing and speech at first but over time this will diminish. The process of having dentures made will require multiple visits to the dentist office, this is to ensure the best fit and result possible.

Simple or Surgical Extractions;

There are two main reasons for extractions, a tooth is compromising surrounding teeth or a tooth cannot be saved.

Fillings, Inlays and Onlays:

Composite Resin and Glassionomer (Tooth Color Fillings), Porcelain and Gold;

Over the last 10 years people have been choosing composite resin fillings over silver fillings due to the esthetic difference. Composite resin fillings can be hardened into place with a procedure that uses light or a procedure that uses no light. Today’s composite resins rival the qualities of silver due to the longevity and the hardness of the material. Porcelain fillings are usually administered for longer-lasting results or for larger size areas. This procedure requires an impression to be made but is the more conservative approach when compared to a crown. Gold is another very hard and long-lasting material that is utilized the same way as the above materials but lacks the esthetic appeal. Reasons for fillings: chipped teeth,  space between teeth,  fractured or broken teeth and decayed teeth.

Due to the safeness and pleasing results, implants are becoming more and more popular among patients. This procedure requires no drilling on neighboring teeth unlike having a bridge procedure. Having an implant placed where a tooth is missing can help preserving bone in that area while restoring chewing function. Dental implants are very strong, stable, durable and will last many years. Some advantages are: dental implants preserve the bone unlike crowns and bridges and have an overall higher success rate, a single tooth can be treated as a single tooth and not involve the neighboring teeth and finally there is no decaying with dental implants.

Porcelain Veneers:

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and create a new smile. Veneers are custom made  durable porcelain lenses that do not contain any metal and are  bonded onto the front of teeth with an adhesive creating a beautiful  smile. Reasons for porcelain veneers: crooked teeth, misshaped teeth, severely discolored or stained teeth, spaces between teeth, and worn or chipped teeth.

Root Canals (Root Canal Therapy):

RCT is needed when the nerve of the tooth is affected by decay or infection.  This condition usually causes pain. The treatment involves  removing the affected soft  tissues including nerves, bacteria and decay from inside of the root canals, sterilize the canals and fill canals with a dental filling  material. Teeth with RCT can be restored to be fully functioning for many years. Having the tooth extracted rather than RCT can be more costly and can create more problems.  Reasons for root canal therapy: decay has extended to soft tissue inside of the tooth, injury to the tooth and infection or abscess has developed inside the tooth or at the root tip.
